ENGINE Athlete Training Day – Gold Coast "25

One team. One mindset. One unreal day.

There’s something about a Gold Coast sunrise that makes you want to move - and on the 5th of October, our ENGINE athletes did just that. From early coffees to the final sprint on the sand, the day was packed with training, teamwork, and plenty of laughs in between.

This wasn’t your average Sunday session - it was a full-scale reminder of why we do what we do.

Before training started, a few keen beans kicked off the day at Blackboard Coffee, Varsity.
The smell of espresso, a few sleepy smiles, and pre-session banter - it was the calm before the chaos. Caffeine levels: high. Morale: higher.

🏊 8AM - Into the Deep End

By the time everyone hit the Bond University Pool, the energy had switched. Goggles on. Game faces set.

For two solid hours, the group powered through swim sets, team challenges, and a few surprise sprints that got the competitive spirit firing. Between high-fives, underwater races, and a few cheeky laughs mid-set, it was the perfect blend of intensity and fun.

'Keeping up with the older girls in the pool, they were amazing. Being the youngest there it definitely pushed me outside my comfort zone but it was also super inspiring swimming alongside all of them.' says Billie Berg.

💪 Strength & Conditioning at Momentum

Next stop: Momentum Sports Performance, Burleigh Heads.

The playlist slapped, the energy was contagious, and the session was all about power, movement, and purpose. Think explosive sets, full-body burn, and just enough sweat to fog up a mirror.

Coaches pushed. Athletes delivered. It was everything ENGINE stands for - relentless effort, done together.

🥗 Lunch & Chill

After a massive morning, it was time to refuel and recharge.

The vibe mellowed out - sun, food, stories, and the kind of laughter that comes when you’ve all been through the same grind. It wasn’t just a break; it was connection - something that matters just as much as the training itself.

🎙 Learn. Reflect. Reset.

Then came the guest speakers and panel session - a deep dive into mindset, motivation, and staying grounded under pressure.

Athletes walked away with more than just notes; they left with a clearer vision for the season ahead. Real talk from people who’ve been there. Real lessons that last.

'I really liked how Ali says when something goes wrong when you're racing or you make a mistake “Drop It In The Water” meaning: don’t give it any energy, let it go and move on.' says, Billie Berg.

🌊 Beach Session Finale

To close out the day, everyone hit the Burleigh sand for one last push - boards, swims, team relays, and beach challenges.

It was part workout, part bonding, part friendly chaos. The perfect finish line for a day built on effort, teamwork, and pure enjoyment of the sport.

Speaking with Oceania Eustace; 'A moment from the day that pushed and challenged me the most was the races with Bevy. As we were mixed up with the boys and had so many of us out the back fighting for a wave I found this both challenging and fun. As coming from a state where we don’t have massive training numbers I found the ocean session with so many people both fun and challenging'.

🏁 That’s a Wrap

By 4:00pm, with the sun dipping low and muscles officially cooked, the crew called it a day.

The ENGINE Athlete Training Day wasn’t about medals or results - it was about showing up, pushing hard, and walking away stronger in every sense.

As Eustace describes, '... being (a) part of the ENGINE team means more then just wearing the brand, racing and getting high results. It’s about displaying who you are and the love you have for the sport while having the same values of ENGINE.

ENGINE is about being in a team that doesn’t include clubs or coaches - I's athlete to athlete, and person to person connection. The crew have the same mentality of working hard, fun and passion which is so precious to have in a sport'.

Because that’s what it means to be part of ENGINE.
We don’t just train for race day - we train for life.
